After I tell someone about my new company the first question I often get asked is, “Why Cadence?”.
Before babies our lives are filled with daily rhythms and cadences like footsteps while running, the repetition of a work commute, or regular girls nights out. Then a baby comes along and our world is turned upside-down into a whole different routine.
Our daily cadence becomes morning snuggles, feeding every three hours, and evening bathtimes. With my two boys my cadence currently involves keeping up with with fast-paced footsteps running laps around the house (how can they be so little yet so loud?) and screams of laughter coming from the bathtub at the end of the day.
In those early days I felt like my life came to a screeching halt. Anybody who knows me, knows that I’m always on the move. I was used to working hard to climb the corporate ladder, keeping on top of housework and regularly working out. But suddenly I was barely leaving the couch. So I decided to give babywearing a try and I instantly fell in love.
With the help of babywearing and support from my husband and family, my daily life started to return to some semblance of a new normal. With my son on my chest everything seemed easier. We enjoyed daily walks with our dog, vacuuming (to clean up hair from said dog), and dance parties while making dinner.
And that’s what cadence means to me - finding your joyful rhythm of life as a parent.
I hope our carriers can help you through the inevitable ups and downs of parenthood and that you are able to find joy in your new daily rhythm. Hold your little ones close as long as you can!
